Crafting heartfelt farewells with care and dignity

Based in Basildon, Essex Karina Longman creates bespoke, compassionate funeral and memorial ceremonies that truly honour the life, memories, and spirit of your loved one.

A calm, personal approach

I'm Karina Longman, a Diploma of Excellence independent funeral celebrant. I work with families to create personal ceremonies that honour a life and reflect what mattered most to the person being remembered.

Whether you are planning a funeral, arranging a memorial after direct cremation, anniversary or wishing to honour a beloved pet. I offer a thoughtful, individual approach. Your stories, wishes and memories help shape the ceremony.

I am registered and insured with AOIC (Association of Independent Celebrants).

We can include music, readings, personal tributes, favourite memories and other meaningful touches to create a service that feels right for you.

Let's talk about a ceremony that tells their story.

Ceremonies tailored to your wishes

Every life tells a distinct story. Working closely with families and funeral directors across Basildon and Essex, I ensure each service is delivered with sincerity, respect, and quiet guidance.

Funeral ceremonies

Personalised chapel, crematorium, or cemetery services that capture your loved one's authentic voice, values, and story with warmth and gentleness.

Celebration of life

Uplifting and affectionate tributes designed to celebrate joyful milestones, personal achievements, and the cherished memories shared with family and friends.

Memorial services

Meaningful gatherings held days, months, or years later, offering dedicated space for remembrance, shared stories, and quiet contemplation.

These ceremonies can also be held after a direct Cremation and the service tailored to either your loved one's past hobbies such as a Golf Club, Social Club etc.

Interment and scattering ceremonies

Intimate, peaceful ceremonies to accompany the final resting of ashes, whether in a memorial garden, woodland cemetery, or family setting.

Honouring your beloved pets

Pets bring unconditional love, loyalty, and boundless joy into our lives, making the loss of a cherished animal companion truly heartbreaking. A dedicated pet memorial ceremony provides a gentle space to express gratitude, celebrate their unique character, and say goodbye with genuine warmth and care.

Whether holding an intimate farewell in your garden, scattering ashes in their favourite outdoor spot, or gathering family to share fond memories, I will help you craft a meaningful tribute tailored to the bond you shared.

"Karina worded the Eulogy beautifully for my Father, she was very supportive at a very emotional time. I would highly recommend her services"

Common questions about celebrant services

Planning a farewell can feel overwhelming. Here are answers to some of the questions families frequently ask when arranging a ceremony.

What is the role of an independent funeral celebrant?

A celebrant collaborates with you and your funeral director to create and lead a personalised ceremony. Unlike strictly religious leaders, I construct a tribute shaped entirely around your family's beliefs and wishes.

Can we include religious elements or hymns?

Yes. Ceremonies can be completely non-religious (humanist style), semi-religious, or spiritual. You may include hymns, traditional prayers, secular poetry, or modern music.

How do you prepare the tribute and eulogy?

We will meet in person or via telephone to share stories, important milestones, and personal memories. I then draft a bespoke script for your review, ensuring every word is accurate and meaningful.

Where can services take place?

Ceremonies can be held at crematorium chapels, cemeteries, natural burial grounds, community halls, or private residences across Basildon and the surrounding areas.

Can family members participate in the ceremony?

Family and friends are warmly welcomed to read poems, deliver personal tributes, or play music. I am always standing by to step in and read on your behalf if emotions become difficult on the day.

How do we arrange your services?
